A new visitor record set in June!
The summer season has been busy so far at the Herring Era Museum – a new visitor record was set in June with about 4,000 visitors, which is a 40% increase from last year. Numbers of foreign visitors also rose from 60% in 2014 to 75% this year. Lots of effort has been put into marketing the museum and we see an increase in both organized tours and travel groups as well as single travellers, where individuals travel the country on their own. Plus we've had twelve cruise ships visiting Siglufjörður so far!
We have a tightly booked July, five cruise ships calls coming up, the herring crew travelling to Åland where they'll be doing the salting demonstrations as a part of the Nordic Coast culture Festival and last but not least we have our own Festival, The Herring Adventure to look forward to!
